botic

Know whether you can take off. Before you take off.

botic cross-checks the geozones active in the slot you ask for, the ceiling that actually applies, the nature reserves of all three regions and your aircraft — then tells you what you are missing, if anything.

What gets checked

An hour is only green once every source has answered

And none of them had anything to report. Not knowing is not permission : if a source cannot be reached, botic says so and names what that silence leaves open, rather than counting doubt as a green light.

The geozones at that hour

Not “right now”. A military area closed in the morning can open in the afternoon, and the reverse. Source : the official droneguide feed.

The ceiling that actually applies

Often far below the 120 m of the Open category : 35 ft near some military sites, 150 ft under an approach path.

Nature reserves

On no drone map at all. Queried separately from the SPW, the Agentschap Natuur en Bos and Brussels Environment.

Weather, daylight and warnings

Wind, gusts, rain and visibility hour by hour, the sunrise–sunset window, and skeyes Daily Warnings within a 15 km radius.

Three moves

An address, a slot, your aircraft

The rest is cross-checking — the kind nobody wants to redo by hand before every flight.

You drop the point

An address or a click on the map. Zone floors published in MSL are converted using the real ground relief, never assumed.

You give the time

The slot you are aiming for, not the present moment. Every source is queried at that hour, and the whole day is rendered hour by hour.

You get what's missing

Not just a light. The constraint that blocks you, the margin under the ceiling, the authorisation to request — and from whom.

The app

793 zones, cross-checked live

Screenshots taken inside botic, unstaged. The counter in the banner is today's : zones are re-read from the official feed, not frozen into a map.

What Belgian airspace actually hidesGeozones at the hour requested, aerodromes, the nature reserves of all three regions, obstacles. Each layer switches on separately.
Zone card for EBLG VLL2: no authorisation to request, height limited by article 31, Open-category ceiling of 150 feet.
The ceiling, not just the zoneHere, EBLG VLL2 : no authorisation to request, but a real ceiling of 150 ft — a quarter of the 120 m the Open category leads you to expect.
botic's hourly verdict: one bar per hour from 05:00 to 19:00, green for favourable, brown for caution, with the no-go and caution thresholds drawn as dotted lines.

Limits

What botic does not do

A stated limit beats an assumed coverage. Here is the one that matters.

NOTAMs are not cross-checked geographically

Their text is semi-structured and their position not always usable. They must be consulted separately before every flight — botic reminds you at every verdict rather than pretending to have read them. skeyes Daily Warnings, by contrast, are properly filtered by radius and slot.

botic is not an official source and grants no authorisation. Only map.droneguide.be is authoritative in Belgium. Responsibility for the flight remains entirely the remote pilot's.

The verdict

One day, hour by hour

Every hour is queried separately. A single one is enough to change the answer — and that is the one to know before loading the car.
